Segovia: Young Woman Dies & 8 Injured in Granizo-Related Traffic Accidents
Segovia Hit by Sudden Snowstorm, Multiple Accidents Leave One Dead, Several Injured
The province of Segovia experienced a series of traffic accidents on Saturday, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old woman and injuries to five others, all triggered by a sudden snowstorm.
According to reports from the Emergency Services 112 of Castile and León, a woman aged 20 died and three others were injured when a car collided with a wall in Nava de la Asunción (Segovia).
The 112 service received a call at 5:35 AM reporting the impact and injuries, including one person trapped inside the vehicle. The 112 control center immediately alerted the Segovia Traffic Guard, the Segovia Provincial Fire Department, and, due to proximity, the Valladolid Provincial Fire Department. Sanitary Emergencies – Sacyl – mobilized a medicalized UVI, a basic life support ambulance, and a primary care medical team.
At the scene, medical personnel confirmed the death of the 20-year-old woman and attended to three other individuals. An 18-year-old woman was transported in a medicalized UVI, a 21-year-old was taken in a basic life support ambulance with primary care medical personnel, and a 30-year-old man was transported in a basic life support ambulance with a UVI nurse.
All injured individuals were transported to the Segovia Health Complex.
Caught Off Guard by the Snowstorm
Elsewhere, five people, including three minors, were injured on Saturday on the A-601 highway at kilometer 55, near Cuéllar (Segovia), following collisions involving multiple vehicles during the snowstorm.
Sources from the 112 emergency service of Castile and León reported receiving “numerous calls” alerting them to several accidents after the snowstorm hit that section of the highway.
In the direction of Valladolid, a vehicle left the road and overturned. Initial reports from the 112 indicated injuries to a 34-year-old woman and two children aged 1 and 3. However, the 112 later clarified that the injured included a 34-year-old woman, a man, and three minors aged 1, 7, and 12.
These injured individuals were also transported to the Segovia Health Complex.
In the opposite direction, towards Segovia, several multiple-vehicle collisions occurred, reportedly involving between seven and eight vehicles. Initial reports indicated no one required medical assistance at that scene.
The 112 alerted the Segovia Traffic Guard, Sanitary Emergencies-Sacyl, which mobilized a medicalized UVI, two basic life support ambulances, and a medical team from Cuéllar, as well as the Segovia Fire Department.
These incidents follow a similar event in Segovia in January 2025, where a snowstorm caused three traffic accidents within an hour, resulting in several injuries, according to reports. That earlier event occurred on the SG-20 and SG-V-6123 roads.
Meanwhile, a separate and unrelated traffic accident in Segovia, Colombia, on December 15, 2025, resulted in at least 17 fatalities and 20 injuries when a bus drove off a cliff in the mountains near Segovia, Antioquia province, according to reports. The bus was carrying high school graduates returning from a trip to the Caribbean coast.
