Seinan Gakuin University Students Gear Up for Victory: The 23rd Interuniversity Negotiation Competition Awaits
Our students will participate in the 23rd Interuniversity Negotiation Competition
A team made up of students from the Faculty of Law’s Tada Seminar will be participating in the 23rd Interuniversity Negotiation Competition, which will be held on Saturday, November 16th and Sunday, November 17th. This year’s competition will be held in a face-to-face format at Sophia University.
The Interuniversity Negotiation Competition is an interuniversity arbitration/negotiation competition held once a year over two days, in which students from Japan’s leading universities and overseas universities compete.
Mock arbitration was held on the first day and mock negotiation was held on the second day using a hypothetical international business case as the theme. Over the course of two months, each university completed approximately 60 pages of questions, including an English contract, before the competition. I will work on it. The arbitration will be based on the UNIDROIT International Commercial Contract Principles, and participants will take on the roles of attorneys for the fictitious companies Red Museum of Art and Blue Inc., and present persuasive arguments in front of judges who will act as arbitrators. I will do it.
During negotiations, in addition to information common to Red Museum and Blue Company, confidential information containing information specific to both companies will be distributed. Each member is assigned a position such as deputy director or director, and is required to fulfill the role appropriate to their position while obtaining the results of negotiations prepared in advance.
The team participating from our university is made up of students, mainly students from Professor Nozomu Tada’s seminar at the Faculty of Law, who are learning about international arbitration and negotiation, and will once again be competing in the Japanese language division.
In preparation for this competition, member Keishi Wada (4th year, Department of Law, Faculty of Law) said with enthusiasm, “Through this activity, I want to improve my legal thinking and negotiation skills. As a team, we will do our best with the goal of winning the prize!” He told me.
Thank you everyone for your support!
