Selin Macieira: Lambrini Girls Steps Back From Live Shows for Medical Help
şgelmez (Lambrini Girls) Announces Step Back from Live Shows Due to Health
şgelmez, the vocalist of Lambrini Girls, has announced she is taking “a step back from live shows” due to struggles with her mental and physical health.
Despite the band having a US tour starting later this month and a 19-date UK and European tour planned for November 19th, şgelmez will not be participating in the US tour, with Kaitlin Pelkey from Big Girl’s filling in.
In a detailed Instagram post, şgelmez explained her decision, citing a need for openness about touring with disabilities and a desire to connect with others facing similar challenges. She revealed she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and autism four years ago. Following last year’s touring, she developed a physical tic that has progressed to a vocal tic, causing her significant distress.
şgelmez expressed her struggle to “exist normally” and the realization that this may not be possible for her. She stated she needs to withdraw from touring to focus on her mental health and seek medical help, aiming to “mend the foundations” she’s cracked within herself.
The band’s scheduled shows will still proceed with Pelkey taking her place on the US tour.
