JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A United States Senator has publicly called on All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Owner Tony Khan to recruit Bad Bunny to the professional wrestling organization following an anti-ICE chant that occurred during a recent televised event. Tony Khan is the son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan.
The incident unfolded last Wednesday night during the main event of AEW’s flagship show, when a segment of the audience began chanting “ICE out” as the match between champion MJF and challenger Brody King was underway. Announcers reportedly paused their commentary as the chant grew in volume, momentarily overshadowing the wrestling action. A clip of the event is available here.
The clip quickly spread online, attracting significant media attention and prompting a response from the U.S. Senate. Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona posted on X (formerly Twitter) on February 6, 2026, directly addressing Tony Khan: “@TonyKhan It’s time for @AEW to solidify a huge fan base. @sanbenito love wrestling, need him to make some appearances. Just no stretcher match please.” “@sanbenito” is the X handle for Bad Bunny.
Senator Gallego’s call for Bad Bunny’s inclusion in AEW comes as the Super Bowl halftime performer has a pre-existing relationship with professional wrestling. Bad Bunny has previously competed in matches for WWE, AEW’s primary competitor. He recently spoke out against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Grammy Awards on February 1, stating, “ICE out,” and adding, “We are not savages, we are not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
The issue is scheduled to be discussed Tuesday night on the Jacksonville-based television show, “Going Ringside,” which airs at 7:30 p.m. On CW-17. All episodes of the show are also available on the Going Ringside YouTube channel here.
As of today, February 11, 2026, AEW has not publicly responded to Senator Gallego’s suggestion. AEW’s flagship program, “AEW Dynamite,” airs on Wednesday nights.
Despite the Senator’s public appeal, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reported on Friday, February 9, 2026, that he expects Bad Bunny to return to WWE “sooner rather than later.” Alvarez noted that Bad Bunny has already wrestled extensively and suggested the Senator may be unaware of this history.
