Senegal Wins Chaotic Africa Cup of Nations ‌Final Against⁤ Morocco

Pape Gueye scored teh winning goal in extra time, giving senegal a 1-0 victory over​ host nation Morocco in a‌ chaotic final on Sunday. The​ match⁤ was marred by fan attempts to storm the field and Senegalese players briefly leaving the pitch to protest a late penalty​ decision.

For a period,it was unclear if the game would resume amid the clashes between fans and players.

“We all saw what happened at the end ⁢of the match, but we made the decision to return‍ to the field and give everything,” saeid Gueye.

Play resumed after a 14-minute stoppage. During regular time, Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy saved a last-minute penalty attempt⁢ by ​Brahim Díaz.

The victory marks‌ Senegal’s⁤ second Africa Cup of Nations title, following their ‌win in 2021.⁢ This is Morocco’s first defeat at home during the ‍tournament.
