Seongnam Expands Climate Companion Card Benefits to Subways

SEONGNAM, South Korea (April 16, 2025) – Residents of Seongnam will soon be able to use a single transit card for ⁢unlimited rides on subways and buses, as the city expands the benefits of its Climate Companion Card starting May 3.

The city of Seongnam, ⁣Gyeonggi Province, announced today that the expansion follows a climate partnership agreement ‍signed wiht Seoul in December. ⁤the Climate Companion ⁢card, initially launched in Seoul, allows unlimited use of Seoul city buses, ⁣village buses, subways (excluding conventional⁤ army lines), and the⁢ city’s public bicycle rental service, “Taereungi,” for a fixed monthly fee.

However, the shin Bundang Line, a privately funded and operated railway, remains excluded from the Climate Companion Card program.

Participating Stations ⁤and bus Routes

Beginning May 3,the Climate Companion Card will be valid ⁢at 10 stations along the⁤ Suin Bundang Line and the Gyeonggang Line within Seongnam.These stations include Gachon University, Taepyeong, Moran, Yatap, Imae, Seohyeon, Sunae, Migeum, and Jeongja.

Eleven Seongnam city bus routes (302,303,333,340,343,422,440,452,3420,4425,4432) are also included. Residents in neighboring cities such as Goyang, Gwacheon, Gimpo, namyangju, and Guri have already been able to utilize the Climate Companion Card on these routes since last year.

Pricing

The Climate Companion ⁢Card costs 65,000 won ⁢per month for general users. A discounted rate of 57,000 won is available for young⁢ adults aged 19 to ⁢39.
