Celestial Trio: Moon, Venus, and regulus
As the Northern Hemisphere anticipates the autumnal equinox on September 22, 2024, and the return of pumpkin spice, the night sky offers a spectacular show for astronomy enthusiasts. Early risers on September 19, 2024, will witness a striking alignment of the Moon, Venus, and Regulus, a radiant star, just before sunrise.
According to the National Aeronautics and space Administration (NASA),these three celestial bodies will appear closely aligned in the eastern sky. This phenomenon is known as a conjunction, meaning the objects appear near each other from our viewpoint on Earth, even though thay are vastly distant in space.

Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo,the lion, will be a key point of reference for locating this conjunction. Leo is a prominent constellation easily recognizable by its sickle-shaped asterism representing the lion’s head.
Saturn’s Rings on Display
NASA also highlights that Saturn will be prominently visible throughout september 2024. While Saturn can be seen with the naked eye,a small telescope will reveal its stunning ring system.
Saturn’s rings are composed of countless particles of ice and rock, ranging in size from tiny grains to house-sized boulders. They are incredibly thin, averaging only about 30 feet (9 meters) in thickness, despite spanning hundreds of thousands of miles in diameter. NASA’s Solar System Exploration website provides detailed information about Saturn’s rings.
