Improving Food Safety: Gwangju City Conducts Hygiene Training for Restaurant Owners
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province, is taking proactive steps to enhance food safety and dining culture. On October 30th, the city conducted hygiene training for approximately 200 existing general restaurant owners at the City Hall’s Sueojangdae Hall.
This training was conducted in collaboration with the Gwangju branch of the Korea Restaurant Association and is a mandatory training required by the Food Sanitation Act. The training aimed to equip restaurant owners with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain high standards of food hygiene and prevent foodborne illnesses.
The training content covered essential topics, including:
- Food Sanitation Act and Policy Direction
- Food Poisoning Prevention and Hygiene Management
- Labor Management
Restaurant owners who were unable to attend the group training must complete continuing training on the website of the Korea Restaurant Association or the Korea Restaurant Industry Association by December 31st of this year. Failure to complete the hygiene training will result in a fine of 200,000 won.
A city official emphasized the importance of hygiene training, stating, “Through this training, we aim to improve the food hygiene management abilities of restaurant owners and raise the level of hygiene management in the restaurant industry in Gwangju.”
