The Integrated Care Management of Tomelloso, operating under the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (Sescam), is expanding its orthoprosthetic loan program. According to reporting by ABC, the expansion is intended to improve the quality of life for patients by increasing access to necessary orthoprosthetic equipment.
The program focuses on providing medical aids and prosthetic devices through a loan system, which reduces the financial and logistical barriers for patients requiring these services to maintain mobility and health.
Regional Healthcare Infrastructure and Personnel Development
This initiative coincides with broader strategic efforts by Sescam to strengthen the healthcare workforce in the region. Iñigo Cortázar, the director general of Human Resources and Transformation at Sescam, has announced the creation of a teaching unit for family and community medicine within the Tomelloso management office. The unit is designed to attract medical specialists to the area.
In addition to personnel development, the city is seeing an increase in healthcare infrastructure. A new health center is currently under construction and is expected to be delivered to Sescam in September. The facility is projected to open to the public before the end of the year.
The progress of the new center has been monitored by regional and local officials, including the second vice president of the regional executive, José Manuel Caballero, the manager of the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service, Alberto Jara, and the mayor of Tomelloso, Javier Navarro.
Current healthcare operations in the city include the Tomelloso 1 Health Center, located at Calle Airén, 3, and the Continued Care Point (PAC) situated at Calle Cencibel s/n. The Tomelloso 1 facility operates with a central switchboard at 926 50 55 30 and an emergency line at 926 50 56 60.
The Integrated Care Management of Tomelloso also oversees specialized medical services, including the Department of Gastroenterology at the Hospital General de Tomelloso.
