On Thursday morning, three judges and ten lawyers convened in the district court of Leeuwarden to hear a civil lawsuit brought by seven citizens against high-profile public figures and the Dutch State, nrc.nl reported. The plaintiffs allege that Covid-19 is not an infectious disease, but rather a biowapen created by a global elite at the World Economic Forum in Davos under The Great Reset to subjugate citizens and commit genocide. The court case targets the philanthropist and Microsoft-oprichter Bill Gates, former Mark Rutte, bestuursvoorzitter van Pfizer Albert Bourla, former minister Hugo de Jonge, and the State of the Netherlands, seeking damages for deception and other claims.
The Courtroom Proceedings in Leeuwarden
About one hundred supporters filled the courtroom in Leeuwarden on Thursday, while roughly a thousand people registered to attend or watch the livestream. Outside the courthouse, attendees watched a video projection on a large screen featuring the faces of the defendants alongside ominous music, while dozens of interested observers, including many from Germany, gathered at the entrance. Inside the main courtroom, presiding judges established ground rules for the proceedings, noting that individuals wishing to express themselves audibly should use a dedicated video room where supporters watched and cheered for the plaintiffs’ arguments.

Attorney Peter Stassen represented the plaintiffs alone during the hearing. His former co-counsel, Arno van Kessel, was arrested in June 2025 and spent several months in detention at the Vught penitentiary institution after losing his legal practice registration for breaching professional conduct rules. Gates initially argued that the Dutch court lacked jurisdiction over him as an American citizen, but the judge ruled the court competent because one of the defendants resides in Friesland, subsequently consolidating the related claims for judicial efficiency.
Arguments From Defense Counsel and State Lawyers
State counsel Reimer Veldhuis of the Pels Rijcken firm defended the state by acknowledging that citizens have ample room to express criticism, but he characterized the unfounded personal accusations against public officials as dangerous. Veldhuis pointed to roadside banners and online campaigns labeling defendants as Satanists and criminals, arguing that this style of litigation undermines national resilience. Other defense lawyers emphasized that the central figures of the pandemic continue to receive death threats and hate messages, necessitating ongoing security details.

The courtroom audience in the auxiliary video room responded to the defense arguments with jeers and hisses. Several attendees shared personal losses connected to the pandemic period while expressing deep skepticism toward the official public health management of Covid-19.
Upcoming Judicial Decisions and Legal Timeline
The court has not yet announced when it will deliver its ruling on the claims brought by the plaintiffs. Two of the original seven citizens who initiated the lawsuit passed away before the proceedings.
