The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level weather alert for several provinces across Morocco, forecasting severe weather conditions from Friday, April 10, 2026, to Sunday, April 12, 2026. The alert warns of heavy thunderstorms, hail, snowfall, and strong winds across multiple regions of the Kingdom.

Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorm Forecasts

The DGM has identified several distinct windows of intense precipitation affecting different provinces. In the provinces of Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, Safi, Essaouira, and Taroudant, localized thunderstorms with rainfall amounts between 20 and 30 mm were forecast to occur from 3 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, until 3 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Beginning Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10 AM and continuing until 1 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, an orange-level alert for heavy thunderstorms and hail was issued. These storms were expected to produce between 20 and 30 mm of rainfall in the provinces of Al Haouz, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Azilal, Figuig, Khouribga, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Midelt, Tinghir, Errachidia, Zagora, and Tata.

Further significant rainfall is anticipated in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Errachidia, Midelt, Taroudant, and Azilal. In these areas, accumulations are estimated between 40 and 70 mm, occurring from 3 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, to 11 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

the provinces of Chefchaouen and Ouezzane were forecast to see rain accumulations ranging from 20 to 40 mm starting at 6 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, and continuing until 9 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

A final period of rainfall is expected from 3 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, until 6 AM on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Settat, Rehamna, Khouribga, and El Kelaa des Sraghna are expected to see accumulations of 30 to 50 mm.

Snowfall Alerts for Elevated Regions

The DGM has warned of significant snowfall in the highlands. On Friday, April 10, 2026, snow was expected to accumulate between 10 and 15 cm at elevations exceeding 2,500 meters. This snowfall alert specifically targeted the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, and Midelt.

Snowfall Alerts for Elevated Regions

Further snowfall is predicted for Saturday, April 11, 2026, and Sunday, April 12, 2026. In these instances, snow is expected to begin at altitudes of 1,800 meters, with predicted accumulations between 10 and 20 cm. The affected provinces include Midelt, Khénifra, Ifrane, Béni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, and Tinghir.

Strong Wind and Dust Storm Warnings

Powerful wind gusts are expected to impact several regions over the weekend. From 10 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, until 9 PM that same day, wind gusts ranging from 70 to 80 km/h were anticipated in the provinces of Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, Figuig, Jerada, and Taourirt.

A more severe wind event is forecasted from 11 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, through 6 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026. During this period, strong local gusts of wind accompanied by dust storms are expected to reach speeds of 75 to 90 km/h. This phenomenon is forecasted to particularly impact the following provinces:
