The prefecture of Avé, this Saturday, August 31, 2024, celebrated the 17th edition of the traditional festival of Avéza, this year under the theme “Avé, a community for inclusive development”. These celebrations, which are rich in symbols and colours, were marked by the presence of the President of the National Assembly, Sevon-Tépé Kodjo Adédzé, representing the Head of State.

Other personalities and members of the government including Ms Yawa Kouigan, Minister of Communications, Media, Culture, government spokesperson and Me Pâcome Adjourouvi, Minister of Human Rights, Citizenship Training and relations with the institutions of the Republic, Ave framework participating in the this celebration.

In his opening speech, the president of the council of traditional chiefs of Avé, Togbuiga Komi Mawuko Akoutsa Avogan VII, expressed his deep gratitude to the President of the Republic for the many development projects carried out in the prefecture. He particularly emphasized the importance of Planned Agricultural Development Zones (ZAAP), which is a big step forward for local agriculture before launching an appeal to the union of the sons and daughters of Avé for the protection and restoration of natural heritage.

« Avé, which means forest in French, is the name of our beautiful prefecture. Previously, our lands were covered with dense forest. Today, with the sale of land, our prefecture has lost this plant cover, its natural charm. But the name stuck. My wish is that our governorship reclaims its forest from the past. This is only possible in a union. Let everyone take it upon themselves to make reforestation a daily action so that our buildings regain their natural charm. ”, said Togbuiga Komi Mawuko Akoutsa Avogan VII.

On behalf of the government, Ms Yawa Kouigan, the Minister of Communications, Media and Culture, government spokesperson, welcomed the coherence around the cultural values and identity of Avé. He also encouraged people to take an active part in the government’s ten-year ambition to plant a billion trees by 2030.

By doing so, you show your desire to manage local natural resources in a sustainable manner. This is an opportunity for the government to invite all officers to unite and live together to protect the common heritage.

The 2024 edition of Avéza was also an opportunity to celebrate academic excellence. Scholarships were offered by the T-Oil company to the best students in the 2024 exams, especially CEPD, BEPC, BAC 1 and BAC 2, in Avé’s assumption.

The celebrations were enhanced by cultural displays, with folk groups from the prefecture highlighting the cultural richness of Avé through colorful and lively performances.

This 17th edition of Avéza’s traditional festival, beyond the reunion around cultural identity, was a reaffirmation of the values of peace, union and coexistence for the inclusive development of Avé in a climate of lasting peace.
