Shakira Cancels WorldPride Concert After Boston Show Halted
Updated May 31, 2025
Shakira has called off her scheduled performance at tonight’s worldpride Welcome Concert. This proclamation comes on the heels of the cancellation of her Boston show at Fenway Park.
The Fenway Park concert, part of Shakira’s ‘Women no longer cry’ tour, was set to feature guest appearances by Wyclef Jean and Will.i.am. However, Live Nation announced its cancellation hours before the doors were to open. Citing a local news outlet, reports suggest a venue inspection led to the decision due to stage safety concerns.
Complications from the Boston cancellation have impacted the WorldPride Welcome Concert.Nationals Park officials shared the news via social media.
“Due to complications wiht the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on saturday, May 31,” the ballpark statement reads. “Consequently, the D.C.show has been canceled. Despite every effort to make it happen, it is indeed not possible to move forward as planned.”
The statement also indicated that refunds would be automatically issued for purchases made through Ticketmaster and Nationals.com. Those who bought tickets via third-party resellers should contact their point of purchase.
This latest setback follows a series of challenges for the ‘Whenever, Wherever’ star’s tour. Shakira previously postponed a show in medellín, Colombia, also due to stage safety concerns, and rescheduled a Lima, Peru, performance after hospitalization. Recently, a video of Shakira falling onstage went viral.
The tour supports Shakira’s 2024 album ‘women no longer cry’.
