“Forest Fairy Tale” Brings Rule of Law to Kindergarteners

To instill the spirit of the rule of law in young minds, assistant judges visited Muhuguan Town Central Kindergarten on march 25. They presented a “Kindergarten Fantastic Day” themed activity,creatively framed as a “Forest Fairy Tale.” A legal professional transformed into the “Aunt Judge of the Forest Kingdom,” guiding the children through role-playing, interactive scenarios, and simulated trials to spark their interest in legal principles.

“Children, there are two ‘magic badges’ hidden in the forest kingdom. Who can find their secrets?” With these words,legal professionals introduced the national and legal emblems,using fairy-tale language to reveal the symbolism of the rule of law.
Using a cartoon, “Legend of the Forest kingdom,” as a guide, one of the legal professionals compared the Tiananmen Square, gears, and wheat ears on the national emblem to the roots and leaves of grandpa’s big tree,
symbolizing the power of the country. The balance and Huabiao in the legal emblem were described as the stethoscope of the woodpecker doctor,
representing the protection of fairness and justice. The children eagerly asked questions, such as, Aunt Judge, the national emblem is like the ‘ID card’ of the motherland’s mother, and the legal emblem is like the ‘little guard’ who protects fairness, right?
Integrating traffic rules into the fairy-tale setting, the children donned animal headdresses and participated in a “signal light change” game on a simulated “forest road.” A child playing a little tiger, who violated the rules, was invited by the “forest traffic police” to learn the proper procedures, generating laughter and applause.
Act 2: The Forest Court is in Session!
The highlight of the event was a simulated courtroom experience. Children played the roles of judge, clerk, and plaintiff. The case involved the little panda accusing the little frog of secretly hiding its lunch (bamboo).

A 5-year-old, playing the judge, initiated the trial under the guidance of the legal professionals and teachers. The plaintiff and defendant presented their cases in simple language, and the “little animals” in the jury voted by raising their hands to show agreement or disagreement.
The “Forest Court” ultimately ruled that the little frog had to return the bamboo and apologize. One of the legal professionals used this possibility to explain, The law is like the roots of a big tree, protecting every child from being bullied.
The children shared their thoughts, with one stating, The little frog that steals othre people’s things is not handsome!
This immersive legal education activity aims to promote understanding of the rule of law and lay the groundwork for building a strong belief in justice among young children.
