Sharjah Celebrates World Arabic Language Day with Focus on Innovation and Heritage
Sharjah, UAE – Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Arabic Language Education Center for the Gulf States hosted a vibrant celebration for World Arabic language Day. The event,held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education,highlighted the importance of preserving and advancing the Arabic language in a rapidly changing world.The celebration, held at the Center’s headquarters in Sharjah, commenced with the UAE national anthem and verses from the Holy Quran. Dr. Isa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Education Center, welcomed attendees and lauded the Gulf leadership’s commitment to strengthening the Arabic language. He emphasized the UAE’s pioneering role in promoting Arabic language initiatives,stating,”The UAE is at the forefront of countries aiming to restore the status of the Arabic language in science,knowledge,and cultural communication.”
Dr. Al Hammadi also acknowledged His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah’s meaningful contributions to the Arabic language, citing the numerous institutions established to protect and promote it, including the ancient Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project.
The Center announced exciting new publications for 2024, focusing on developing international and regional Arabic language tests to assess students’ proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These tests will also cover linguistic sciences like grammar, morphology, and rhetoric, aiming to enhance Arabic language teaching and curriculum advancement.
The event featured a captivating visual presentation showcasing the Center’s achievements, including student competitions, conferences, training programs, research, and literary works.

A special presentation titled “The Story of International Arabic Language Day,” created by the Education Center, provided a compelling historical overview.
The celebration culminated in a felicitation ceremony honoring participants of the symposium “Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence: Promoting Innovation while Preserving Cultural Heritage.”
An accompanying exhibition of Arabic manuscripts, curated in collaboration with the Center for Islamic Manuscripts in Sharjah, showcased invaluable linguistic treasures, including works on grammar, morphology, rhetoric, and literature. the Sharjah Islamic Manuscripts Center was recognized for its contribution to the exhibition.
