The emirate-wide program, encompassing over 250 individual events across all its cities and regions, drew a remarkable attendance of more than 233,000 people, demonstrating a strong sense of community and national pride.
The celebrations weren’t simply festive; they were a deliberate effort to reinforce the UAE’s national identity and values. Khaled Jassim Al midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Committee for Union Day Celebrations, highlighted the importance of the occasion as a platform for fostering loyalty and belonging among citizens and residents. He specifically acknowledged the vision of the UAE’s leadership in establishing this strong sense of national identity.
Al Midfa also expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council, recognizing his ongoing support and guidance as crucial to the success of the Union Day activities. This patronage underscores the commitment of Sharjah’s leadership to preserving and promoting the nation’s heritage.
Beyond the festivities, the celebrations served as a retrospective, reviewing the UAE’s meaningful development over the decades. This look back reinforces the nation’s journey and provides a foundation for future progress. According to Al Midfa, the events were designed to align with the UAE’s broader vision of building a cohesive society and ensuring a prosperous future for generations to come. The involvement of over 20 participating organizations further demonstrates the collaborative spirit driving this national endeavor.
