The Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects (“Ruwad“) began its 13th annual “Business Stars” initiative on December 5, 2023, aiming to cultivate a culture of self-employment and equip the next generation of entrepreneurs. this year’s edition features 60 projects from students across the United Arab Emirates.
Initiative Overview and launch Event
The “Business Stars” initiative, launched on Friday, December 5, 2023, by Ruwad, a subsidiary of the Sharjah department of Economic Development, is a three-week program designed to encourage self-employment and entrepreneurship among students. the launch event took place at Al Qarayen Park 5 in Sharjah and was attended by Hamad Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, and Amina Mohammed, Director of the Training, Research and Events Department Sharjah24.
This year’s edition is unique in its implementation through three successive stages, allowing for a more structured and complete experience for the participating students. The event drew a crowd eager to explore the participating projects and their offerings.
Participant Details and Project Scope
A total of 120 male and female students from various schools, universities, and colleges throughout the UAE are participating in the initiative, representing 60 entrepreneurial projects. The projects span a diverse range of ideas and industries, showcasing the creativity and innovation of the young entrepreneurs. The initiative coincides with the first semester vacation,providing students with a productive and engaging way to spend their break.
The organizing committee has scheduled activities daily from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM between december 5th and December 25th. This extended timeframe allows ample opportunity for students to refine their business plans, receive mentorship, and gain valuable experience.

The launch of “Business Stars” is integrated within the broader framework of the 14th Suburbs Festival, a community event that aims to enhance social cohesion and promote local talent.By hosting the initiative within the festival, Ruwad aims to reach a wider audience and increase awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship.
