Sharjah Police Reduce Fatalities With Road Safety ⁢Campaigns

Sharjah is seeing⁣ safer⁣ roads. Traffic accident ⁢fatalities ‌in the emirate dropped 24% in‍ 2024 compared to 2023, ‍according to‌ police. The Sharjah police reported a rate of 1.76 deaths per 100,000 residents,marking ​a important advancement⁢ in Sharjah traffic ⁤safety.

Authorities ‍credit proactive strategies for the ​decline. The Traffic and patrols Department, working with the Security Media Department, implemented ‍12 campaigns targeting risky driving behaviors. These‌ included distracted driving, ⁢improper parking, jaywalking, speeding,‍ and unsafe motorcycle use. The road safety ‌ programs reached nearly 905,895 people across Sharjah.

Beyond enforcement, ⁣the Traffic and Patrols Department supported 272 events and activities, ensuring public safety. They also⁣ assisted with 1,976 maintenance and growth projects,improving traffic flow and‍ overall Sharjah opportunities for safer⁤ transit.

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Alai ‍Al Naqbi,director of​ the⁤ Traffic ‌and Patrol Department,emphasized ‍the role of community​ engagement. He saeid increased‌ public awareness and compliance​ contributed to the positive results.

“These achievements⁢ reflect Sharjah Police’s vision to enhance road⁤ security ⁢through integrated efforts‍ in prevention, awareness, and⁤ control,” Al​ Naqbi‍ said, thanking ‍the public for their cooperation. “Ultimately,we aim to protect lives ​and improve traffic ‍safety.”
