Miss Grand Myanmar Crown Controversy: What’s Next?
Chief Nawat Issara Kraisil Addresses the Media Amidst the Ongoing Debate
Following the shocking incident where Thae Su Nyan, Miss Grand Myanmar 2024, was stripped of her crown and sash by the National Director (ND) of Myanmar, the beauty pageant community has been left wondering what exactly transpired. The incident occurred on October 27, 2024, after Thae Su Nyan won second place in Miss Grand International 2024.
The National Director of Myanmar recently explained on the Myanmar Celebrity+ page that the decision to return the crown was made due to a lack of justice and the intention to step down as ND.

The ND stated, “I have decided to return the crown of Miss Grand International. Because it’s not right between what I do and what I get in return. And next year I will not be able to continue to hold the position of National Director.”
Chief Nawat Issara Kraisil has scheduled a media appointment to address the situation and provide clarity on whether he will wait for the return of the crown by Myanmar or take alternative action. The press conference is set to take place today at 1 pm.
