While filming the limited series, Chavez admitted that she never actually wore a wig. “I used pretty much my own hair throughout production, but I teased it and styled it to look like a wig. The only time it’s not my real hair is when there’s a gag. So, when the wig came off at the dinner table, I would put on a bald cap, like in the scene where the wig comes off in the shower in prison.”
And yes, it is. The moment Kitty gets her wig taken away is based on a real event. Lyle Menéndez actually testified in court, “She reached down and grabbed my hairpiece and just ripped it off.” It was then that his older brother Eric learned the grim truth.
