Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter Plan to Play in Bowl Game

BOULDER, Colo. – Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders confirmed he will participate in the team’s upcoming bowl game. His father, Deion Sanders, mentioned that star player Travis Hunter is also expected to play.

Sanders emphasized the importance of their involvement in the game. “It’s a team thing,” he stated after a strong performance where he threw for 438 yards and five touchdowns in a 52-0 victory over Oklahoma State. He noted that their presence is crucial for the team’s morale and performance during the bowl game.

The Colorado Buffaloes hope to reach the Big 12 title game. If they do not succeed, they are likely to be selected for either the Holiday Bowl, scheduled for Dec. 27, or the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. This bowl game will be Colorado’s first in a non-COVID season since 2016, and they have not won a bowl game since 2004.

Bowl games have seen a decline in popularity, especially after college football established a playoff system for determining national champions. This year, the playoff expands from four to twelve teams, and high-profile bowls like the Rose, Sugar, and Orange participate in the playoff.

While many top players opt to skip lesser bowl games, Coach Deion Sanders insisted that his team will participate. “Our kids are going to play in our bowl game because that’s what we signed up to do,” he explained. He emphasized the importance of finishing strong and how missing the game could disrupt team structure for the next season.

Sanders highlighted that laying down in bowl games can negatively affect team performance. He referenced his time at Florida State, where some players did not participate in the Orange Bowl, leading to a substantial defeat against Georgia. This year, Florida State struggles with a 2-9 record.

“We plan on going out and fighting just like we fought today,” Sanders affirmed. His commitment reflects a dedication to building a strong team culture and setting a positive tone for the future.
