Sheffield United, Chris Wilder Part Ways After Premier ⁤League Relegation

Sheffield United and‌ manager Chris Wilder⁤ have ⁣separated after the club’s failure to immediately return to the Premier League. Wilder’s second stint concluded after he ⁤couldn’t elevate the ⁢team back to the top flight.

Wilder initially took on the managerial role ⁢at Bramall Lane ​in May 2016. His first season saw him lead the team to the League One title.​ Two years later, he secured promotion to the⁢ Premier League, where the team finished ninth in their first season.

Though, the​ following season proved difficult, and Wilder departed in March 2021 as relegation became unavoidable. Before returning to Sheffield United in December 2023, Wilder had ⁤stints ​with Middlesbrough and Watford. He replaced paul Heckingbottom, who was ⁤sacked while the Blades were at the ⁤bottom of the Premier League.
