Dubai Crown Prince Visits DMCC Diamond exchange Amid Trade Milestone

Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed visited the Dubai multi Commodities Center (DMCC), including the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), the world’s largest diamond tender facility. The visit coincided with the DMCC announcing it had traded over 1 billion carats of diamonds in the past five years, solidifying its position in the global diamond trade.

During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of state for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and remote Work Applications.He was welcomed by Dr.Hamad Buamim, chairman of the Board of DMCC; Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC; and Feryal Ahmadi, DMCC’s Deputy CEO and COO.
The Crown Prince received briefings on trade practices for diamonds, lab-grown stones, and other gemstones at the Dubai Diamond Exchange tender floors. He also learned about DMCC’s diamond ecosystem, including the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) expansion into Uptown Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized DMCC’s central role in driving global trade and investment to Dubai. He noted DMCC is building high-performance ecosystems that attract innovation and capital across priority sectors, in line with the Dubai economic Agenda D33.
He was also updated on regulatory and infrastructure advancements that have made the UAE a leading hub for rough diamond trade. The UAE’s growth in the polished and lab-grown diamond sector, combined with its role in the Kimberley Process, positions Dubai as a trusted centre for the diamond industry.

DMCC also announced Strategy 2033, an aspiring plan to expand its specialized industry ecosystems. This strategy focuses on diamonds, gold, energy, AI, Web3, blockchain, and gaming, offering services like licensing, infrastructure, and access to capital.
DMCC’s success is attributed to the expansion of both traditional and emerging sectors.Over the past five years, the precious stones ecosystem has grown considerably, along with precious metals and energy. Newer technology ecosystems have also accelerated, reflecting Dubai’s rise as a global innovation center. DMCC now accounts for 15% of Dubai’s foreign direct investment and 7% of its GDP.
Dr. Hamad Buamim said the visit was a powerful endorsement of DMCC’s role in positioning the UAE as a global leader in diamond trade and advancing Dubai’s position across future-focused industries.
