Mexico City, Mexico ‍- Mexico City⁢ Mayor Claudia ⁤Sheinbaum publicly expressed her disapproval of Campeche Governor Layda‍ Sansores’ decision to appoint Jorge Luis Lavalle to her cabinet. Lavalle,⁤ a former PAN senator from campeche, was named Secretary ‍of Economic Growth last week.

“It’s a decision made by Layda, the governor,” Sheinbaum stated ⁣during a press conference. “I can tell you ⁣that I wouldn’t have invited him to my government.”

Lavalle’s appointment has sparked⁢ controversy due to his past involvement⁣ in the Odebrecht corruption case.⁣ Former Pemex‍ CEO Emilio ⁤Lozoya implicated Lavalle in⁣ the scandal, leading to his imprisonment for over a year.

While Lavalle‍ was granted house arrest in september 2022 due to health reasons ⁢adn required to wear an electronic ⁣monitoring bracelet, he still faces charges of⁤ money laundering, criminal conspiracy, and bribery.

Sheinbaum’s criticism highlights the ongoing debate within Mexico’s political landscape ⁤regarding the rehabilitation of individuals implicated in corruption scandals.

Sheinbaum: Lavalle Appointment “Not My Style”
