Palenque, Chiapas – President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo embarked on the maiden voyage of the Tren Maya’s final stretch, traveling from Palenque to Chetumal, Quintana Roo. sheinbaum, accompanied by goverment officials and representatives from the construction companies, boarded the train at 2:20 PM, wiht an expected arrival in Chetumal later that evening.

Upon arriving in Chetumal, Sheinbaum described her experience on the Tren Maya as “de diez” – a perfect score in Mexican slang. She shared a video of the scenic journey on social media,stating,”Today we traveled on the Tren Maya from the Palenque station in Chiapas to Chetumal,Quintana Roo,where we will lead the first anniversary celebration of this great work and inaugurate its last stretch to the public tomorrow.”
The completion of this final stretch, encompassing sections 6 and 7, will connect the entire 1,554-kilometer route, traversing the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

Earlier in the day, Sheinbaum highlighted the Tren Maya’s significance as a “feat” while inaugurating the construction of the “La Ceiba” ecotourism park. She was greeted by excited workers and military personnel involved in the project, many requesting photos with the president.
Sheinbaum received her boarding pass and posed for pictures before boarding the train. The customary whistle blew, signaling the departure, and the doors closed, marking the beginning of the inaugural journey on the final leg of the Tren Maya.
