Palenque, Chiapas -⁣ Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum downplayed the recent public spat between Morena party ⁢leaders Ricardo ⁤Monreal and Adán Augusto López, calling it a “minor⁢ issue” and ⁤urging them to keep ⁢a “cool head.”

Speaking to reporters upon arriving at the Palenque archaeological site visitor center, which she will ⁢inaugurate on Saturday, Sheinbaum dismissed concerns that the conflict could impact legislative initiatives.

“No, it doesn’t pose any problem,” she stated when asked about the potential consequences.

Sheinbaum acknowledged that López had accused Monreal of corruption, but ‍emphasized the ⁣importance of due process. “If there’s an issue,‍ there are proper channels to ‍address it. It needs‍ to be investigated. It’s a minor matter.”

Pressed⁢ on whether she would intervene to resolve the dispute, Sheinbaum responded, “Yes, ⁣yes. These ⁤are normal occurrences between them.”

She indicated that she might speak with both⁢ leaders at a later time, wishing them “Merry Christmas, a prosperous New Year, and a cool head.”

When asked if she would call them to ‍order, Sheinbaum replied, “No, I don’t see ⁤the need.”

Sheinbaum also denied meeting with former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during her⁤ visit to Palenque, where he is currently residing.

“No, no, no (we didn’t meet). We need to let him rest. ⁤He’s resting, and⁤ we need⁢ to respect⁣ that,” she asserted.
