Burglary Investigation Leads to Arrests in Unincorporated Clackamas County

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress in the 12000 block of SW Wilsonville Road, in unincorporated Clackamas County, near Wilsonville. The homeowner had spotted two individuals, a male, and a female suspect, inside his home through a security camera and quickly alerted authorities. The homeowner described seeing a suspicious vehicle nearby, which heightened the urgency of the response.
Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle with two occupants, a driver, and a passenger. In attempting to evade law enforcement, the driver maneuvered the vehicle through a field, but it quickly became bogged down in the mud. Meanwhile, the male suspect, later identified as Jesus Camarena, fled on foot from the vehicle. Deputies, with the assistance of two nearby community members, were able to apprehend Camarena.
The female suspect remained inside the vehicle until another responding deputy took her into custody. She initially provided a false name, despite this, she was later confirmed to be Julia Rose Sanftleben. The 2019 Toyota Grand Highlander, found to be stolen from Clackamas County. This model, a popular choice for its spacious and family-friendly design, highlights the increasing trend of high-theft-car models, such as SUVs that are easy to resell.

Evidence and Investigation
Throughout the incident, deputies discovered multiple pieces of evidence indicating repeat illegal entries into the home. Various items were discovered missing, emphasizing a strategic and targeted approach by the burglars. Authorities also recovered multiple forms of identification, gift cards, and mail not belonging to either suspect, alongside what appeared to be methamphetamine and other substances related to drug activity.
The findings highlight the complexity and danger of current domestic burglary trends which often link to larger, profit-driven criminal networks.
The recovered substances also underscored another disturbing trend: many burglars now engage in drug activities to cover various expenses linked to daily operations.
Arrest and Charges
Jesus Camarena, 28, of Woodburn, and Julia Sanftleben, 26, of Aurora, were transported and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail. Following release, a thorough investigation was continued, leading to an uncovering of illegal activities.
The male suspect is charged with Burglary in the first degree, Theft in the second degree, Criminal Trespass in the second degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Eluding a Police Officer, and Identity Theft while Camarena’s counterpart faced similar charges.
