Shine a Light: WhatsApp Unveils Sleek New Minimalist Theme in Latest Update

Shine a Light: WhatsApp Unveils Sleek New Minimalist Theme in Latest Update

November 6, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Tech

WhatsApp has tested a variety of chat themes on both Android and iOS. Specifically, once this feature is launched, users will be able to choose from 22 chat themes and apply them to all their chats. It was also discovered that messaging platforms can also apply a rich dark theme across their interfaces, which helps reduce eye strain and glare.

Now, WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp is developing a minimal white theme. The new light theme has been spotted in WhatsApp Android beta v2.24.23.18, which allows you to customize the app with default colors. This feature will provide a more personalized experience for WhatsApp users in the future.

According to the shared screenshots, the new light theme applies a unified color scheme to all elements of the app. The new minimalist light theme uses black as the default color. What’s interesting is that the light theme changes the classic green of the WhatsApp logo to black on the top app bar.

On the other hand, in the dark theme, the default color is changed to white, adding sharp contrast and improving readability. The new Deep Dark theme, previously discovered, gives users more control to choose the appearance of the app according to their favorite colors. One thing to note is that a new WhatsApp lite theme is currently in development. It is not widely available, and only a small number of beta users are using it to test its features.

This isn’t the only WhatsApp feature in development. It was recently discovered that the camera icon in the chat bar has been replaced with a gallery icon, allowing users to quickly and easily access photos and images. WhatsApp is also developing an option that would allow users to search within channels. There’s also a badge count feature in chat filters, a feature currently in development, and notification alerts for missed status updates.
