Shocking Admission: Nicki Minaj Stuns Fans by Revealing She’s Not a US Citizen – Despite Years of Paying Taxes
Nicki Minaj Reveals She’s Not a U.S. Citizen Despite Paying Millions in Taxes
Nicki Minaj, the renowned rapper from Young Money, recently shared a surprising revelation with her fans on TikTok LIVE. Despite being a long-time resident of the United States and paying millions of dollars in taxes, she is not a U.S. citizen.
Minaj expressed her frustration and disappointment with the situation, stating, “I’m not a citizen of the United States. Isn’t that crazy?” She clarified that she holds citizenship in her native Trinidad and Tobago, where she was born.
Minaj has been a resident of the United States for many years and has made significant financial contributions to the country through her taxes. She feels that her contributions warrant honorary citizenship, which she has not received.

Minaj has been open about her immigrant background and has used her platform to advocate for immigrant rights. In 2018, she shared a powerful message on Instagram in response to the separation of migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Minaj wrote, “I came to this country as an illegal immigrant when I was 5. I can’t imagine the horror of being taken away from my parents at the age of 5 in a strange land. This is so scary. Please stop. Imagine the fear and panic these kids are feeling right now. Not knowing if their parents are alive or dead, and not knowing if they will ever see them again…”
Minaj has always been proud of her Trinidadian roots and has represented her home country in various ways. She was featured on the remix of “Shake The Place” by Trinidadian Machel Montano and Destra, where she proudly declared, “My country Trinidad, best carnival ever. I represent the red, white and black/I represent my true flag.”
Minaj later performed the song at the annual Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, and shared her experience on Instagram, writing, “I wish my grandma was alive to see this. I wish my dad was alive to see this.”
