Bahtiyar further stated that Uncle Güran threatened him, saying, ”I killed Arif’s daughter, and you will take this body and destroy it. Or I will kill you and your family.” He claimed he did not mention this in his initial testimony due to fear of Salim Güran.
Salim Güran was previously arrested in connection with the disappearance of Narin Güran. DNA samples taken from Uncle Güran’s vehicle matched the DNA samples on Narin Güran’s clothes.
Twenty-four people, including the child’s mother, father, two older brothers, four uncles, and the previously arrested uncle’s wife, were detained after the body of the 8-year-old girl was found.
Minister Tunç stated, ”Whoever is responsible for the death of our daughter Narin will be brought to justice and punished as he deserves.”
AKP deputy Galip Ensarioğlu suggested that Narin Güran “could have been killed by her uncle Salim Güran because she saw something she shouldn’t have seen.”
The dead body of Narin Güran was found on September 8 near her village in a stream. She went missing on August 21 after leaving a Quran course.
