Shocking Betrayal of Trust: Former School Principal Behind Bars for Harassing Female Teacher
Former School Principal Sentenced to Prison for Sexually Harassing Female Teacher
A former school principal in Andong City has been sentenced to one year in prison for sexually harassing a female teacher. The Daegu District Court Andong Branch Criminal Division 1 (Judge Song Young-eon) handed down the sentence, which includes an 80-hour sexual violence treatment program and a 40-hour stalking treatment program.
The former principal, Mr. A, was accused of threatening the victim teacher with statements like “I will help you become a scholarship teacher” and “This may affect the Office of Education and work evaluations.” He was found guilty of violating the Special Act on Punishment of Violent Crimes.
Despite the crime being made known, Mr. A committed a secondary offense by calling and attempting to contact the victim teacher and her family about 80 times. This led to the court imposing a higher prison sentence than the prosecution’s requested six months.
Judge Song Young-eon stated that the defendant’s actions caused the victim to experience “sexual humiliation and fear of retaliation,” resulting in anxiety, sleep disorders, and depression. The court took into consideration the victim’s refusal to accept a settlement and her plea for severe punishment.
The court’s decision reflects the severity of the crime and the need to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. The sentence serves as a warning to those in positions of power who abuse their authority and exploit their subordinates.
