Sony Sendai Football Club to End Activities in 2024
Sony Sendai Football Club (Sony Sendai FC) is grateful for the continued support of its fans and would like to express its sincere appreciation for the encouragement received over the years.
Today, the club submitted a notice of withdrawal to the Japan Football League (JFL), and a formal decision will be made upon approval by the JFL Board of Directors. This decision marks the end of Sony Sendai FC’s activities at the end of 2024.
Established in 1968 as an in-house club, Sony Sendai FC has been a source of vitality within the company. The team was promoted to the Japan Football League in 1998 and achieved its first championship in 2015. The club has also been actively involved in the local community, operating a soccer school and engaging in various activities that promote the sport.
After careful consideration of the team’s future, the decision was made to end Sony Sendai FC’s activities at the end of December 2024. The soccer school will also cease operations at the end of March 2025. The club will provide maximum support to its players and staff, respecting their wishes and ensuring a smooth transition.
The club would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who has supported and encouraged Sony Sendai FC throughout the years. With nine games remaining in the league, the team is committed to fighting with all its might and asks for continued support until the end.
