Police Colonel Yutthana Chokchai, Deputy Provincial Police Commander of Loei Province, led a joint operation with the Surasakmontri Army to crack down on drug trafficking in areas along the border.
On September 27, 2024, the authorities received a tip about a group of teenagers involved in drug trafficking in the Ban Nong Prajak area, village no. 5, Ahee subdistrict, Tha Li district, Loei province. The police set up a checkpoint in front of the PT gas station in the Ahee village area.
During the operation, a white Chevrolet pickup truck with two young women inside was stopped at the checkpoint. The women, identified as Miss Warisa (28) and Miss Worada (23), were questioned by the authorities.
Upon searching the vehicle, the authorities found 20 packs of methamphetamine, containing 120,920 tablets, hidden in a black plastic bag behind the passenger seat. The women confessed to receiving the drugs from the Lao PDR.
The suspects were charged with joint possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) and were sent to the Phon Thong police station for further action. The authorities also seized the pickup truck and two iPhones.
