A devastating explosion occurred in a shop in Dashiqiao City, Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, on September 13, causing severe damage to the surrounding area.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was extremely powerful, with multiple videos circulating online showing the moment of the blast. The storefront of a residential building was blown to pieces, with only the frame left standing. The windows and doors on the upper and lower floors were shattered, and the buildings and vehicles next to the shop were also affected.
A staff member of a nearby pharmacy reported that they were at work when the explosion occurred, around 7 o’clock in the morning. They described hearing a loud noise and initially thinking it was an earthquake, before the ground began to shake and the glass in their store was shattered.
A local merchant, whose car was damaged in the explosion, described the scene: “His house is a restaurant. My house is three or four stores away from his house. My house is next to his house and also suffered damage. His car collapsed and the glass was shattered.”
The Dashiqiao Municipal Emergency Management Bureau issued a statement confirming that a liquefied gas tank leaked in a shop on the east side of the south gate of the Jindi Jiayuan community, causing a flash explosion that injured four people at the scene.
Local residents expressed relief that the accident occurred in the morning, when fewer people were around. “Fortunately, the accident happened in the morning. There was a grain and oil company across the street and it was not open yet. In addition, few people here get up in the morning, otherwise there would be more injured.”
Others described the extent of the damage: “There was an explosion inside the hotel, and the large tempered glass at the entrance was blown out. The damage was too great.” ”It was so powerful that the glass was shattered.” “The loss is huge.”
Residents also expressed concern for those affected by the explosion, including a woman who was seen dropping off a child. “I hope she is safe.”
