Kim Min-a, a renowned sports announcer, has recently revealed that she got divorced five years ago. The news came as a surprise to many, as she was known for her successful career and charming on-screen presence.
Kim Min-a took to Instagram to address the news, stating, “That’s what happened. It was hard to say it casually.” She expressed her gratitude towards those who knew about her divorce but chose not to pry, saying, “No one around me asked me, and those who knew about it pretended not to know for a long time.”
Kim Min-a also shared her thoughts on the timing of the revelation, saying, “It takes exactly this long for all the comments and reactions to stop feeling like arrows.” She acknowledged that people might be curious about why she didn’t reveal the news sooner, but emphasized that she’s been working hard and moving forward.
According to Sports Kyunghyang, Kim Min-a got divorced in 2019, five years after marrying a golf businessman of the same age in 2014. She attributed the divorce to personality differences and clarified that she didn’t intentionally hide the news.
Kim Min-a has been keeping busy with new projects, including manufacturing baseball and golf-related products. She expressed her excitement about this new chapter in her life, saying, “I’m excited these days because it feels like a new life has begun after turning 40.”
Kim Min-a’s career in sports broadcasting spans over a decade. She joined MBC Sports Plus as an announcer in 2007 and gained popularity for hosting ‘Baseball Tonight Ya’ and ‘The Man Who Reads Baseball’. She later moved to SBS Sports in 2014 and completed her contract in June 2022. Last year, she hosted the SBS Golf 2 national special talk show, and recently returned as an MC for SPOTV’s ‘Spotime Baseball’ in May.
