The Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism announced the return of its 15th Annual Shop Wyoming & Win shop-local program in November of last year, continuing a tradition aimed at supporting local businesses during the peak holiday shopping season.
The initiative, which encourages residents and visitors to spend at participating locally owned retailers, offers shoppers the chance to win prizes based on their purchases. For every dollar spent at enrolled businesses, customers receive entries into a drawing for cash awards and other incentives funded through sponsorships and community partnerships.
Organizers said the program has grown steadily since its inception, with increasing participation from both merchants and consumers each year. Last year’s edition saw record engagement, prompting officials to expand the number of participating stores and increase the total prize pool to further stimulate local economic activity.
“Shop Wyoming & Win is more than a promotion—it’s a community investment,” said a spokesperson for the Chamber. “When people choose to shop locally, they help sustain jobs, maintain downtown vitality, and keep tax revenue within the county.”
The program runs annually throughout November, aligning with the start of the holiday shopping period and often coinciding with national events like Black Friday. Chamber leaders emphasize that while the timing leverages seasonal consumer spending, the goal is to foster lasting habits of supporting Wyoming County’s independent businesses year-round.
Participating businesses range from boutiques and specialty shops to restaurants and service providers. To join, merchants must be located within Wyoming County and agree to track customer spending during the campaign period in exchange for promotional support from the Chamber.
Officials reported that past editions have contributed measurable increases in November sales for local retailers, with many businesses citing the program as a key factor in their year-end performance. Surveys conducted after previous campaigns showed high satisfaction among both shoppers and store owners.
As the Chamber prepares for the next iteration of Shop Wyoming & Win, organizers are exploring ways to enhance digital outreach and simplify entry tracking through mobile-friendly platforms, aiming to make participation even more accessible for tech-savvy consumers.
The program remains a cornerstone of the Chamber’s broader strategy to strengthen the local retail ecosystem and promote economic resilience in Wyoming County.
