Please ensure that your VAT registration information is accurate and up-to-date to ensure correct VAT is charged and VAT invoices are tax compliant. If your VAT registration information is not up to date, your tax liability information may be out of date or inaccurate.
When you expand your business in a local country or into a new EU member state, you may need to submit a new registration, a new VAT number, or meet new tax requirements to comply. If you use Shopify Tax, your sales and locations are automatically monitored to determine whether you have tax obligations in EU member states. You will receive monthly notifications as to whether you have unfulfilled tax obligations based on the information provided in your store.
