Showdown in October: Harris Takes on Trump in Highly Anticipated CNN Debate
Kamala Harris Challenges Donald Trump to Televised Debate
Days before the US presidential election, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has challenged her Republican rival Donald Trump to participate in a new televised debate on October 23, organized by CNN.
Her campaign team announced in a statement: “Vice President Harris is ready to face Donald Trump on stage again.” Reuters reports.
Kamala Harris’ staff said she had received an invitation from CNN to take part in a debate on October 23.
“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate. This is the same format and procedure as the CNN debate he participated in and said he won in June, when he praised the moderators, CNN rules and the ratings.” said Jen O’Malley Dillon, Kamala Harris’ campaign manager
So far, the former Republican president has ruled out facing his Democratic challenger again before the November 5 election.
Donald Trump’s team did not immediately respond to questions from AFP about whether he would eventually agree to participate in another televised debate.
“There will be no third debate,” the Republican nominee said in mid-September, considering his June televised debate with President Joe Biden, who was still running for the White House, and his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
