Shubman Gill, the 25-year-old batter, has been named India’s new Test captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma. Gill acknowledged the leadership of virat Kohli and Sharma, calling their tenures a “blueprint” for future success in Test cricket. Both Kohli and Sharma recently retired from the format.
