SIAO 2024: A Two-Year Milestone Awaits – CMA-BF President Germaine Compaoré Confident of Unparalleled Success

The 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) opens tomorrow. In order to inform the public opinion about the preparations, we met with the national president of the Chamber of Crafts of Burkina Faso (CMA-BF), Germaine Compaoré. Read.

Are you satisfied with the state of preparations?
Everything is ready. Preparations are going well. In the regions, artisans work hard to participate in this great event. In order to give more visibility to the regions, these artisans have the support of various governors and presidents of regional councils. Tomorrow is the official launch and we are going to make every effort to ensure that this craft party is a huge success.

Are national artisans satisfied with the organization?
Today, we are in resilience. We are a resilient people. We also need durable trades who are active in promoting their work by working towards the success of these two years. In this perspective, there is satisfaction. The seats are ready and full. The 323 ventilated stands are all used in the same way as the air-conditioned ones. All in all, the artisans are satisfied. At a regional level, we salute the dedication and commitment of all the governors and presidents of regional councils who actively supported the artisans so that they represent each region authentically through their local knowledge.

What will be the contribution of foreign artisans to this biennial event?
Around twenty countries will take part in this biennial event. Organized charity starts with yourself. Therefore, a strong mobilization of local artisans is needed. And with those coming from elsewhere, this global exhibition will be of quality. The registration of 22 countries in this context is very beneficial. This resilience will give a special color to this great event. All artisans will find what they want and all of Africa will win.

What will be the main phrases?
During these ten days, a number of activities will take place. Seminars, workshops and panels will highlight and promote art objects. The discussions and recommendations will bring added value to this event. The artisans will also take part in competitions to demonstrate their knowledge. They take an active part in it.

What is the message to the Burkinabe people?
We are ready. And we expect the massive support of the resilient people. As the people have always done, we invite them to give the country’s true image of honest men and participate in the success of this well-crafted festival. We believe that the Burkinabè people this year will do as much and even more to the success of these two years. It is a moment of relaxation and discovery of world craftsmanship. Everyone is invited to experience the crafts festival in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. With the i SIAO participants will have easy access to the site to avoid long queues.
