Siddaramaiah Challenges PM Modi: ‘Prove Allegations or I’ll Retire from Politics’
Siddaramaiah Challenges PM Modi‘s Allegations in Solapur
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accusations that the Congress government “looted” people in Karnataka, claiming the funds were used for campaigning in Maharashtra. During a press conference in Solapur, he urged Modi to prove these allegations, stating he would retire from politics if they were validated.
Siddaramaiah labeled Modi’s statements as “blatant lies” and questioned why the Prime Minister did not accept his challenge. He accused Modi of hypocrisy, noting that while Modi claims welfare programs ruin the economy, the BJP had announced similar guarantees in its election campaign for Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister highlighted the financial support provided to different communities in Karnataka under various schemes, such as free electricity and food provisions. He emphasized that his government implemented these initiatives to help citizens, stating that Karnataka contributes significantly to central taxes but receives a small return.
Siddaramaiah noted the inequality in tax revenue allocation, claiming Karnataka receives 13 paise and Maharashtra 15 paise per rupee paid in taxes. He urged the people of Maharashtra to support the Maha Vikas Aghadi to ensure the state’s development.
Prime Minister Modi’s earlier rally remarks accused the Congress party of corruption in Karnataka and warned voters against supporting Congress in Maharashtra.
Siddaramaiah concluded by reaffirming the effectiveness of his government’s welfare initiatives and called for unity in voting for the Maha Vikas Aghadi, promoting economic progress and fairness.
