Siemens and NVIDIA Drive Industrial AI Revolution in Manufacturing
Updated june 7, 2024
Siemens and NVIDIA are collaborating to transform manufacturing through industrial AI, simulation, and digital twins. This partnership aims to boost productivity and flexibility on factory floors, making advanced automation more accessible to manufacturers worldwide.
Matthias Loskyll, head of virtual control and industrial AI at Siemens Factory Automation, discussed how Siemens’ work with NVIDIA is reshaping the manufacturing landscape. The industry faces challenges including a shortage of skilled labor and increasing demands for efficient production. AI advancements and digital twins offer solutions by automating complex tasks and optimizing interactions between AI-powered robots and smart spaces.
Siemens’ Inspection, an AI-driven visual quality inspection system, allows even small manufacturers to automate defect detection. This system can be trained with as few as 20 product samples in under an hour. automaker audi is also using industrial AI in its car body shops to automate weld-spot inspection, achieving significantly faster inference using Siemens’ Industrial AI Suite.
“The Industrial Copilots will run on premises to keep sensitive production data secure while enabling rapid troubleshooting and process optimization,” Matthias Loskyll, head of virtual control and industrial AI at Siemens Factory Automation saeid.
What’s next
siemens is developing AI-driven vision software for robots to handle unseen objects and Industrial Copilots with NVIDIA NIM microservices to assist shop floor operators. NVIDIA will present more on industrial AI at NVIDIA GTC Paris, june 10-12.
