Bosnia and Herzegovina Wins Silver Medal in Sitting Volleyball at Paralympic Games
The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in sitting volleyball secured a silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Paris, marking their seventh medal at the prestigious event.
In the highly anticipated final match, the team, led by coach Ifet Mahmutović, faced off against the Iranian selection, ultimately falling short with a 3:1 defeat.
Despite their valiant efforts, the BiH national team was unable to overcome the Iranian team’s dominance, which had been evident throughout the tournament.
The first set saw a remarkable comeback from the BiH team, who managed to equalize at 21:21 and eventually win 25:22. However, the Iranians regained their footing in the second set, saving themselves from a 2:0 deficit and ultimately winning 30:28.
The Iranian team’s superiority was on full display in the remaining two sets, as they secured convincing victories to claim their third consecutive Paralympic gold medal.
Despite the loss, the BiH volleyball players can take pride in their achievement, which marks a significant milestone in their sporting careers. A reception will be held in their honor, along with silver medalist swimmer Ismail Barlov, on September 9 at 3 pm in front of the Town Hall.
