simone⁤ Biles Weighs Potential Comeback at⁤ 2028 ‌Olympics

Updated May 29, ⁣2025

Fresh off her ⁢dominant performance at the Paris Olympics, ‍Simone‍ Biles, the most decorated Olympic ⁤gymnast, is hinting at a possible return to competition at ‍the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. After adding three ⁤gold medals and a silver in Paris, Biles told L’equipe that competing on home soil is enticing, ⁣but⁢ a firm ⁤commitment is far ⁢from certain.

Biles’ journey to Paris followed⁢ a ‍challenging experience at the ⁢tokyo Games, where she withdrew from several events due ⁤to the ⁤”twisties.” While gymnastics careers are often short-lived, the ‍allure of a fourth olympics, particularly in ⁤the United States, has kept the ⁢door open for the 27-year-old.

The gymnastics icon emphasized her need⁢ to enjoy life outside⁣ of the sport. She wants to spend time ⁣with her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, and support him at his games. Biles saeid she has accomplished so much in her sport, and to ⁣come back, it would really have‌ to excite her.

While her competitive status remains uncertain, Biles will participate in the 2028 Olympics⁤ in some capacity. The physical demands of‌ elite gymnastics, however, weigh⁤ heavily on her decision. She noted the‌ toll her career has ⁢taken on⁣ her body.

Biles told L’Equipe that she felt it in Paris. She‌ went back to the village, took the elevator and her body literally collapsed. She was sick for 10 days. The other day, they were sprinting in the garden⁢ with friends, and⁤ she had aches and pains for three days. So, she honestly doesn’t know. She⁣ added ⁤that they’ll see.

Having achieved her goal of ‍finishing on top and on her own ⁤terms after‌ the ‌challenges of the 2021 Games, Biles⁣ has little external ⁢pressure to return. Her performance⁢ in‌ Paris solidified her status as arguably the greatest gymnast ⁢of all time.

The competitive fire, however, still flickers. A final decision likely hinges on her physical and mental state as⁢ the 2028 Olympics draw ⁣closer. For fans hoping to see her ‍compete on U.S.soil, the possibility remains.

What’s next

Biles will continue to assess⁣ her physical condition and motivation as the ⁣2028 Olympics approach. Her⁢ decision will depend on‍ whether her desire to compete aligns with her overall well-being.
