Singapore Disburses Cash Aid: Up to $600 for 2.9 Million Citizens in Cost of Living Relief

Singaporeans Start Receiving Government ‍Cash ​Disbursements

Millions of Singaporeans are receiving ‌a welcome financial‌ boost this month as the government begins disbursing cash payments aimed‌ at easing the cost of living.

The payments, part of the enhanced ⁤Assurance Package announced in February,‍ will ⁣reach up to 2.9 million Singaporeans aged 21 and older in 2025. The amount each individual receives​ varies based⁤ on their assessable income and ⁣property ownership.

“We acknowledge the challenges of​ the higher cost of living and are⁢ committed ‍to providing ‍greater support for Singaporean households,⁢ particularly lower- to middle-income families,” Prime Minister Lawrence Wong⁣ stated ‌during ‍the budget rollout earlier this year.

Direct⁤ Deposits and⁤ SMS Notifications

eligible Singaporeans will ‌receive the funds automatically, with⁤ notifications sent via SMS after‌ the benefits are credited. Those who need to​ verify their eligibility can do so on ⁤the government‌ benefits​ website (govbenefits.gov.sg)⁤ using their Singpass.

For recipients without a Singpass-registered mobile number, a letter will be mailed ‌to the address listed on their Singapore ⁣Identity Card.

additional Support​ for‍ Older Singaporeans

Along with the cash disbursements, older Singaporeans are also receiving ​additional ⁢benefits this month.

Approximately 1.4 million Singaporeans​ born between⁤ 1974 and 2003 will receive a one-time ⁣medisave top-up of $300 ⁤to $500 in December.
Around 1.6 million Singaporeans born ⁤in⁣ 1973 or ‍earlier will ‌receive a one-time ‍MediSave​ top-up of $1,250 or $2,000 under the Majulah Package.
* Roughly 800,000 eligible⁢ individuals in this age⁢ group will also receive a one-time Retirement‍ Savings Bonus of $1,000⁢ or $1,500 in their CPF, ⁣also part of the ‍Majulah Package.

The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Manpower have issued ​a ‍warning about potential scams. Thay emphasize that SMS notifications ⁤from “gov.sg” will​ only inform recipients about their benefits and will not require any response, link clicks, or personal⁢ data.
