Netflix Japan has staked out an April 2, 2026, global premiere date for its upcoming live-action adaptation of the gritty legal manga Sins of Kujo. The 10-episode streaming production brings Shohei Manabe’s provocative underworld series directly to screens worldwide.

Yuya Yagira Heads the Underworld Defense

Yuya Yagira steps into the lead role as Kujo Kujo. The protagonist is an unconventional, morally gray defense lawyer operating on the darker fringes of the Japanese legal system. Yagira is already familiar to live-action manga adaptations, having previously starred as Toshiro Hijikata in the live-action Gintama films.

Hokuto Matsumura Joins an Expansive Ensemble

Stepping alongside Yagira as associate lawyer Shinji Karasuma is Hokuto Matsumura, a member of the idol group SixTONES. The sprawling supporting cast features Elaiza Ikeda, Keita Machida, Takuma Otoo, and Tsuyoshi Muro. Rounding out the roster are Takenori Goto, Kaito Yoshimura, Rintaro Mizusawa, Shunsuke Tanaka, and Kodai Kurosaki. Netflix Japan marked the release date announcement by dropping both a primary promotional visual and a main trailer.

Shohei Manabe’s Provocative Manga Legacy

The series draws from the original manga by Shohei Manabe, the creator behind the acclaimed series Ushijima the Loan Shark. Known in Japan as Kujo no Taizai, the source material began serialization in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits in October 2020. The ongoing publication has grown substantially, amassing 15 collected volumes with over four million copies currently in print.

Challenging Traditional Perceptions of Morality

The narrative tracks Kujo as he takes on clients from society’s underbelly, including thugs and ex-convicts. His methods frequently bypass standard legal ethics. As these confronting cases unfold, associate lawyer Karasuma must grapple with immediate shock at Kujo’s aggressive style.
