Key Trends in SIP Investments
Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) in Indian mutual fund (MF) schemes reached a milestone in 2025, exceeding ₹3 trillion in inflows for the first time in a calendar year. This growth demonstrates a growing investor preference for staggered investments, notably during periods of market volatility.
Account Numbers and AUM Growth
Despite the robust growth in SIP flows, the number of active SIP accounts experienced a slight decrease in 2025. The total number of active SIP accounts stood at 100 million in November 2025, down from 103 million in December 2024. This drop was attributed to a market correction earlier in the year and a one-time data cleanup initiative undertaken by fund houses.
However, this decline in account numbers hasn’t hindered overall growth. By November 2025, SIP Assets Under Management (AUM) had reached ₹16.53 trillion, representing more than 20% of the industry’s total AUM. This signifies the pivotal role SIPs play in boosting long-term asset accumulation and expanding investor participation.
| Metric | December 2024 | November 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| active SIP Accounts (Millions) | 103 | 100 |
| SIP AUM (₹ Trillions) | N/A | 16.53 |
| SIP AUM as % of Total AUM | N/A | 20%+ |
