The market share of Škoda Auto, which is part of the Volkswagen concern, rose to 7.9 percent from 7.3 percent the year before, according to data from the Federal Office for Motor Vehicles in Germany.
The main concern brand VW maintained its leading position on the German market last year, when sales increased by twenty to more than 560,000 vehicles. The market share of the brand thus increased to almost a fifth.
Total sales of new passenger cars in Germany rose slightly to 2.86 million vehicles in 2025. Sales of electric cars rose by 43.2 percent to more than half a million, and they accounted for almost a fifth of total sales. The greatest interest was in cars with a hybrid drive. They were bought by 19 percent more customers year-on-year, a total of over 1.1 million. Their share in total sales thus amounted to two fifths.
On the contrary, sales of cars with gasoline and diesel engines decreased significantly. After sales fell by a fifth, the share of gasoline cars decreased to 27.2 percent and diesel cars to less than 14 percent.
