Long-Term Agreement Secures Exclusive Coverage
Teh DP World Tour and Sky Sports have announced a four-year extension to their broadcast partnership, beginning in 2026. This renewal ensures Sky Sports and its streaming platform, NOW, will continue as the exclusive broadcast home for DP World Tour events.
A key component of the agreement is exclusive coverage of the next two Ryder Cups: the 2027 event at Adare Manor in Ireland and the 2029 competition at Hazeltine in the USA. The deal also encompasses continued coverage of the DP World Tour’s global schedule, including five Rolex Series events.
Record Viewership Drives Renewal
The extension follows a period of record viewership for golf on Sky Sports. The 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome achieved the highest-ever peak audience for a golf event on the platform, demonstrating the sport’s growing popularity. Record audiences were also seen at the 2024 Amgen Irish Open.
Industry Leaders Express Optimism
Jonathan Licht, Chief Sports Officer at Sky, highlighted the timing of the extension, stating that it coincides with “record heights” in golf viewership. He emphasized the compelling nature of the Ryder Cup and sky Sports’ commitment to delivering future events to fans.
Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive of the DP World Tour, echoed this sentiment, noting that the 2023 Ryder Cup reinforced the event’s unique dramatic appeal. He expressed confidence that Sky Sports’ storytelling capabilities will continue to expand the tour’s fanbase over the next four years.
