Osaka, Japan – Funai Electric, currently in bankruptcy proceedings, announced plans Wednesday to transfer a portion of its television business to China’s skyworth Group. The proclamation occurred during a creditors’ meeting in Tokyo.
The deal will see Skyworth Group take control of the North American television business operating under the Philips brand. As part of the agreement, Skyworth will also rehire employees from Funai’s Japanese repair subsidiary. This subsidiary will then service Skyworth products.
